Cottage City Oysters are EU Organic Certified!
In 2022 Cottage City Oysters became the first farm in the U.S. to complete the stringent E.U. Organic Certification process for shellfish and seaweed products. We are currently working with USDA regulators and industry groups to create the regulatory framework for U.S. Organic certification for shellfish and seaweed products, which currently does not exist in the USA.
In 2022 we obtained EU Organic certification due to recent changes that allow “GRADE A” farm sites in Massachusetts to trade shellfish with the E.U. Being one of a handful of farms to meet this stringent water quality criteria within New England, Martino’s Seafood and Cottage City Oysters took the further step to obtain EU Organic Certification for all shellfish and seaweed products raised on the farm. Our EU Organic Certification is the first in the U.S. for a shellfish and seaweed farm.

Fall vibes are here and the farm is getting ready for the colder temps and winter weather. Work rafts have been pulled and we are prepping the farm for our winter seaweed kelp planting. Oysters are at their prime, plump full of nutrients and preparing for their winter naps.
